About Parto Dehdashti

Paro Dehdashti has been writing poetry and painting since she was a teenager. She has always been inspired to write or paint when there is a conversation, a feeling, a scene or an event that moves her. After many years of keeping her art and writings private, she has finally decided to share these with you. As time permits, Parto will also be sharing her favorite works of art and poetry from other artists that she admires.

Parto was born in Iran but left for educational opportunities in her teens and moved to the United States. Parto's life journey, from the drastic cultural shift in her youth, from attending and obtaining a PhD from Drexel University where she met and married her husband with whom she has a daughter, from her separation from her friends and family, including her mother (who still lives in Iran), from the loss of her father over 10 years ago and from working and living in Corporate America to her retirement, have all inspired her art and poetry. Parto is still absorbing, experiencing, feeling, adapting, and expressing, and she hopes that you will join her as she shares her impressions of her past experiences with you and that you continue on this journey with her.

The work that she has shared with you on this site is a representative body of her writings, demonstrating her yearning to understand culture, society, life, death, God, the universe... Her approach in combining poetry and art is inspired by ancient Persian works of art, when poetry books included paintings that visualized key aspects of the poems. Her art and poetry are inspired by her journey and experiences, and her most memorable works are inspired by French Impressionism, the Persian poets Rumi, Hafiz, Khayyam, and Forough Fraokhzad, and teachings of Gurdjieff, Neville Goddard, Wayne Dyer, Zen, and so many others.

Parto mostly has questions, and her expressions are sometimes very harsh and other times very heartwarming, reflecting emotions that were inspired at the time of her writing, photography, painting, and other forms of art. She hopes that as you read her words and see her related art, you feel a connection to her, and as you experience similar sorrows or joys in your own spiritual life, she hopes that you can look back on her words to feel the connection to a life that is beyond our imaginations.

She encourages you to reach out with your feedback and to connect directly as you embark on this journey together.
